2011 has just come to a close for the Retiree's golf club at Birchbank Golf and Country Club. One hundred Retiree's competed in a Red, White, Blue Scramble with play starting at 12:30 pm. The Retiree's then enjoyed a fantastic prime rib dinner prepared by our Chef and Kitchen staff, followed by the presentations and prize draws. The Retiree's Club held their Yellow Ball Scramble & Two Ball Low Net event - two different games all rolled into one day. Two-Ball Low Net Winners: Al Doherty, Brian Powell & Merv Aiken

The Birchbank Ladies’ club hosted the annual West Kootenay Challenge on Monday August 8th.. The teams were made up of 8 ladies with representation from 9 area clubs including: Birchbank, Castlegar, Nakusp, Redstone, Christina Lake, Balfour, Nelson, Champion Lakes and Kokanee Springs. The course was in top shape and lovely baskets of flowers were put on the tee boxes. The Club gave out 2 for 1 passes, and golf balls to the participants. With all the support the ladies were able to put on an impressive tournament with lots of positive feed back.
The Birchbank team with Captain Kate Weir won the tournament with a gross score of 314.
The Balfour team, who will host the tournament in 2012, came in second with a net score of 246.
Topping off the day was Sandra Roy from Balfour who had a hole-in-one on #13.

Congratuluation to the 82 golfers who participated in the inaugural Frank Emery Senior's Memorial Tournament on July 21 and 22, 2011. The tournament winners were:

80 Retirees competed in their annual Dice Scramble and dodged rain squalls as they finished up their round. The winning team of Terry Biccum, Bob Menin, Al Dececco, and Rick Georgetti shot a remarkable 64 to finish well ahead of the other teams.
